Happy Valentines Day!!!

Happy Valentines Day from Texas Ya'll!!

I made the ecard out of a picture I took this morning, These are roses and candy my Hubby Gave me for Valentines, I put them on an old rusty vintage circa 30's or 40's Greyhound wagon ...........The old jug belonged to the Hicks family for generations and the gotta love rusty scales! (I still need a big girl camera, all  pics taken on iphone......)

Now for a little pink and red!

I  wanted to share a little Valentines Apron , daughter and I made for my daughters Teacher using  half square triangles as a border, this apron also qualitifed as our contribution to hundreds day as it took 100 halfs squares to make fifty squares for the border.

Not the prettiest display but it had to be on a hanger to put on the 100's day wall

And here is a little more red for Flags Day

Mom  embroidered a little flower on a hanky and we did not know what to do with it, so we got a
red cloth placemat, red material, a little ruffle and used the hanky for Flag Day!

And a little More red.............

Here is the same material and the same set of placemats and the same ruffle for my two sided apron with a little vintage button, the placemat is sewn into a double pocket nice and deep!

on the other side I folded a vintage pillowcase that had little red roses on it, if you fold it just right and sew it on it makes awesome deep pockets

So this is my "American Beauty" Apron one side for serving and one side for cooking
keeping the white clean.........

Also
In light of Valentines day I am daydreaming about going on a trip and I wanted to share a post about our last little romantic outing in Texas
The Gaylord Texan -Alamo Wing  Don't you just love the rustic patina on the white!

This last March marked the the 15th wedding  anniversary for My baby (Melvin) and I, we so desparately wanted to go to New York, back to Cozumel or even a little drive down to San Antoinio and stay on the riverwalk. However, work and childcare situations prevented that so we went to.............................

The Gaylord Texan---------the next best thing to getting away.  The Gaylord Texas is situated on  Grapevine Lake (15 minute Drive), there are 3  Restaraunts, many boutiques and two gourment coffee shops.....and free entrance into the nightclub The Glass Cactus that overlooks the lake and is very romantic to have a cocktail under the stars and if you love to dance as we do,  well, this is a beautiful place to go dancing. Also they have a special, if you are on your anniversary bring your marriage certificate and you stay the whole weekend for the price of one night.............plus second day parking and resort fee. Okay we had to go!

The Glass Cactus Club overlooks lake, Very Romantic spot to dance and have a cocktail

But is it the same as getting away, we only drove 15 minutes???  Upon arrival we had valet parking and we never left the resort.

Here are some pictures of the inside of the Gaylord, this hotel is on the Lake, Grapevine is a wonderful Old Town with alot of boutiqes and restaraunts and even has a train that goes daily from Grapevine to the old Stockyards, it is close to Dallas, Arlington, the Ballpark and Six Flags, the Gaylor is minutes away from Grapevine Mills an awesome outlet mall!  So if YA'll ever come down this way the Gaylord Texan is a must see!!!

The Atrium

The Cattle Baron Wing of the hotel (There are several porch areas to relax within the hotel, my porch club friends)

I sat here and drank my Cafe Americano
 .....and people watched!
God Bless Texas

Texas Size Texas Style!!  Love it!
Lobby

The Atrium

A train runs through a make believe Texas Village, this is in the atrium

Gaylord Texan  has an indoor and an outdoor pool. Outdoor pool has bar and dining.

River Walk Cafe

River Walk Cafe (Wonderful all you can eat Breakfast buffet, absolutely the best buffet I have seen)

Stop and smell the roses!
Dark Chocolate, drizzled in white chocolate covered strawberries, little gourmet jelly beans and grapes with wine perfect after dancing snack!

And If the Steakhouse, Swimming, Boutiques, Dancing, Cocktails, and Gourmet coffee shops, Rose Petals, Wine, and Chocolate dipped Strawberries don't relax you and put  spark and sizzle to that romance, then book a couples massage at "Relache Spa" They are a beautiful full service dayspa! I got a manicure here and the polish was called "Shoot out at the OK Corral"  I Loved it!

  5. Happy Valentine's Day!

Grapevine is a nice little town....and the huge craft festival that they have each year is what got my interest. A few decades ago I lived in Roanoke, TX and then in Bedford for a while. I worked in Arlington. I enjoyed my time in Texas. I love the BIG Texas style. That Gaylord is fabulous. I don't think it was built when I was out there though. I'm visiting for Porch Monday!

    Hugs,
    Stephanie ♥
