Romantic Prairie style! Got my book and am mixing it up with a little Shabby Chic

I have been reading following Rachel Ashwell since the nineties and Last week I recieved and drooled over my beloved Romantic Prairie Book by Fifi Oneill !  (Atlanta Bartlett coming this week!!!) I had strayed from the style I love when moving to a ranch house and it was very rustic and western........Now I am slowly adding a little fru fru but balancing out with a little rustic prairie and both Fifi and Rachel have wonderful examples of rustic mixed with fru fru in their new books.  I am also getting inspiration from Rachel's blog and the Prairie she is decorating ( I am going to see it soon!, it was booked upon opening for the spring antique shows I have a call in to see when Hubby and I can go!)

Here is just a peek of the things I have done so far. Shabby Chic Rachel Ashwell /Fifi Oneill Prairie inspired Living and sunroom reveals in a couple of weeks......Hope you stop by to see!

This is a ten dollar sewing table with a ten dollar mirror painted put my pink wire bucket with lavender
this is also in the living room. Dry brushed my candle holders with french provencial blue. Old medicine bottle hubby found while digging road in fort worth in front of historical hotel, road was laid in 1930 so it is pre 1930 ft. worth, flowers from my garden

Ten dollar yard sale table primered and drybrushed with french provencial blue, my husbands bucket
that he used on back of welding truck perfect patina, it was in the top of trashcan. He was surprised I dug it out, but I love it and it took him about ten year on the job to beat it up to the perfect patina! Great Granny Lee's Mason jar and her Pineapple Doily just a part of the living room, reveal soon!  I will not be painting lawyers paneling.........Hubby would just die........but the vaulted ceiling and rafters will be done in a week or I think the paneling with a lot of white and curtains and white pillows on leather with cowrug will give me a shabby-prairie, or romantic ranch look! And my hubby will still be happy as I want him to feel at home as well.
3 dollar mirror painted added just the right touch of gleam to this area! I added my crystal platter son bought me years ago and a vintage frog I inherited from mom
Just a little area of sunroom........reveal soon! (painting walls and ceiling next week)

Here is a project that I hope to complete today........(please excuse garage, we work in there alot) remember back when this was on layaway. I have an exact same one that I bought 12 years ago at yard sale........I was floored when I found the match. Working on today and hopefully will be put in living area this evening and decorated!

And If you missed my Shabby chic petticoat treadmill cover here is another peek

Shabby Chic Petticoat for treadmill
Vintage ice cream parlor chairs and a Industrial Telescoping tray
(walls to be painted  a lovely white next week!)

Staying busy and finishing projects is a healing therapy!!
Have a wonderful day!

  15. Hi Sherry love your blog banner and slogan-- glam and rust type of gal you are. I can just imagine a lady of the 1900s or so in a long dress leaning over your little white table as she adjusts her takes her hat pin to her hat and smiles. Like what you did to the candle holders Terri www.morningdewdrops.typepad.com

  19. I love shabby chic too, but because my home is shared with my family who is more traditional, it is a challenge sometimes to blend different styles. However, I like the changes you've made so far. Keep it up!
