Vintage "Love Notes" Chalkboard Table

After reading this post from Terry at Forever Decorating

I just had to try it on this Vintage End Table
Love Notes End Table/Night Stand

Before
I should have got a picture before sanding top but it was peeled bubbled ugly vaneer. I fell in love with this piece
and saw potential, bought it and went home and immediately read Terry's post on her blog for customizable chalk board paint recipe thanks Terry for sharing!! Don't you just Love blogland for all the inspiration and sharing of tips!

I Sanded top, applied two coats of primer, painted two coats of Benjamin Moore Decorators white, put two coats of the handmade chalboard paint mixing the unsanded grout with a bluish gray mix, hand painted the embellishments in the corners of table, lightly distressed and added two coats of handrubbed wax on the painted white sections

Now this table is ready for any Love Notes someone or their significant other can leave to eachother, chalk washes off with damp cloth but does not have a smooth surface to use a chalk eraser, the texture turned out beautiful.

Thanks for looking and thanks Terry for you inspirational post!!

Have a wonderful weekend all!

Please view my tab at top of blog for all the  Link party's I am participating in to and to find masses of inspiration!!

  1. Sherry, when I put posts on my blog, I just don't realize how it could change someone's plans and this table is what I mean. It was ugly and forgettable. You made it just so chic and the blue chalkboard top is the cream on top. So cool. Thanks so much for following my blog.
