Santa Monica table

I Redid a table today and wanted to show everyone, this table is for me to keep at home in my living room

Being inspired by the color of French shutters all over the net

And the French Corner of Disneyland That I visited last week
I was inspired to find the perfect color of blue, I wanted to try provence or Aubusson of Annie Sloans chalk paint but would have to order or drive for 1.5 hour to get so I took a chance with color and bought a 4.95 little pot of Benjamin Moore Sample Paint in the color of
Santa Monica Blue fitting as I just got back from vacation in that area

I got this Table in a trade and the lines were wonderful, very in tact no wobbliness at all, just a really scuffed up top.  I sanded top before thinking to take a picture, I am still working with my iphone camera........sorry

Here she is after I sanded top, put one coat of Santa Monica Blue, used White Linen for contrast
the Next step was to stain the top and all over and wax the extra stain off of the body of the table
Wax top twice and buffed by hand

With solid wood walls the pop of color is very welcome in this room, I believe the color brings out
the blue in the oil painting so I moved it to another wall.

slightly Distressed, antiqued with minwax dark walnut, waxed with minwax, I put my Gramma's antique
vase with a Hydrangea on it and my room just pops with color

One coat of dry brushing using Benjamin Moore Flat paint 4.95 and I still have half the little sample....
It did take two coats of white linen but no primer or sanding of the sides.
I like my little table I got in a trade with a fellow "Antiqian".

Since I put that table on the backwall, I moved my french drop leaf server to the wall of windows, I picked up these two antique chairs at a yard sale, hung the curtains on vintage hangers recently. Put fresh flowers in my dry brushed gray Vintage windowbox. Popped decorating magazines in a garage sale basket.  Got two
footstools and recovered, put my Rachel Ashwell seagreen pillows on the chairs and I think I am starting to feel the "French, shabby Beach in Texas"..........

Thanks for looking!

Tomorrow I am going picking with my Sister!!!! I will be posting pictures of my booth and the new items I finished to fill it.

Have a Wonderful Weekend!
