My New Dining Area Decor

I have not blogged in two weeks.........been so busy painting for home and booth, doing some paperwork for businesses etc.

I did want to do a short post on showing pics of before and after Of my dining area that is part of my kitchen.....

Going from darks and Tuscan style to American Farmhouse Hope you like it, I did craigslist my other furniture and get new from yard sales so really the cost was in the paint but wanted to show the differences

Many more reveals to come as the whole house is getting a "lighter color scheme!"

For awhile after taking a break from the antique business and moving from an 1880's style farmhouse....I watched a little HGTV and came up with a more modern tuscan style look in my Ranch house......five years later back in the business around antiques and alot of white on the net with my blogging buddies and I felt compelled to get back to my roots with decorating.

Got rid of the olive green that I did love for a bit and went back to my favorite colors  white with a touch of blue and grey  painted this kitchen island for some pizzaz in the room of white, Cabinets for the time being are remaing Dark wood I know everyone is painting their cabinets white but I like some contrast and the graining in the custom cabinets is beautiful  Used Annie Sloan Greek blue on Island with dark wax.
TAble and Chairs were yard sale finds  Hook piece on wall is a vintage flat bed truck panel I bought from Jenny at  Uptown Country.......Jenny is now a TV star on Wednesday nights  Texas Storage Wars!!  WAy to go girl!!  Walls are a French Canvas from Ace on top and lower paneling is done in Annie Sloan French Linen
When moving into the ranch house from the 1880 style farmhouse I went darker Tuscan Mediterranean, I know feel the need to get back to my lighter simplier farmhouse feel!  I will have many dark pieces and paintings at a yard sale in a couple of weeks!

I did chose two table runner and napkin sets, this one is a sea blue  the linen has to be washed and ironed in between some meals, so I have backup the roses are all from my front yard flower garden just the difference in linens and color of roses can make a big change in a room!!!

I will take more pics of kitchen when I get the pantry area done, living room still be worked on halls etc.

See you next week.......(I still have many New orleans pics to share I know just gotta catch up with life)

  2. I was happy to see you post--I love what you are doing! I love the Tuscan look too...in somebody else's house. I love what you are doing--so much more appealing to me. Though like I said, what you had before was nice. This looks so much more like what I would expect you to have. Can't wait to see more!

  6. That is quite the transformation, but I have to admit that I don't know which I like better - the dark or the light. You had done a great job in decorating both ways!
